ages 10+
10 weeks of instruction - $200 per student ($20 per class)
September 9th-November 18th (no class November 11th)
No supplies required, just show up! Students may bring a personal snack if needed.
Located in artist’s home in North Asheville/Weaverville near New stock road (official address given per request or after registration for safety reasons)
Students will engage with artwork spanning the centuries as well as living artists. This course is heavily focused on learning how to read artwork and understand the stories it could be telling as well as how to have a personal reflection and connect with the art. There is a studio component to the course that is designed to explore specific works of art and get in the minds of the creators who made them. We will NOT be learning how to “make great works” and diving into technical skills, rather we will be deepening our understanding and basic human need for artworks. each class will have 20-30 minutes of instruction and the rest of the time will be a studio experience where students will learn to copy or mimic the art/artist/artistic concepts discussed.
This is a fantastic choice for any young artist who is developing a personal style, as well as kids who feel they have ZERO artistic ability. We learn so much about ourselves and what we are capable of by knowing art.
*This is strictly a drop off class as the instructor needs to develop her own relationship with the students in order to appropriately teach. Downtown Weaverville is nearby, as well as Lake Louise with plenty of places to camp out for a few hours if you are coming from far away. All neurotypes are welcomed and celebrated!
